Administrative Nursing Coordinator (Evening/Night Shift) – RN

Position Summary

The Administrative Nursing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating nursing services throughout the hospital during evening and night shifts. This leadership role ensures high standards of patient care, nursing practice, staffing coordination, regulatory compliance, and operational oversight across assigned units. The coordinator serves as a clinical leader, mentor, and resource for nursing staff while promoting teamwork, quality improvement, patient safety, and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee hospital nursing operations during evening and night shifts
  • Ensure compliance with nursing standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and clinical support to nursing staff
  • Conduct routine rounds to monitor patient care quality and adherence to standards
  • Assess and monitor patient safety measures including restraints, falls, observations, and 1:1 documentation
  • Investigate and resolve incidents, complaints, and operational concerns
  • Manage staffing needs for current and upcoming shifts
  • Respond to and monitor hospital emergency codes and ensure proper documentation
  • Promote teamwork, professional growth, and positive employee relations
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based nursing practices
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, staff, patients, and families
  • Maintain a positive and professional environment aligned with organizational values

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Current New York State RN License required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Specialty certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a healthcare setting
  • Strong critical thinking, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience with quality improvement, CQI, and Root Cause Analysis preferred
