ASC Registered Nurse | Surgical Experience | GA
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, outpatient surgical setting. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of patients throughout their surgical experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Preoperative Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients prior to surgery, reviewing medical histories, medications, and ensuring all necessary preoperative procedures are completed.
2. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about the surgical process, recovery expectations, and postoperative care instructions. Address any questions or concerns to alleviate anxiety.
3. Intraoperative Support: Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during surgical procedures by preparing and maintaining a sterile field, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring proper equipment and supplies are readily available.
4. Medication Administration: Administer medications and intravenous (IV) fluids as prescribed, monitoring patients for any adverse reactions or complications.
5. Postoperative Care: Provide attentive postoperative care, monitoring patients' vital signs, pain levels, and overall recovery. Assess and manage any post-surgical complications or discomfort promptly.
6. Patient Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for patients, ensuring their needs and preferences are communicated to the healthcare team. Promote a patient-centered approach to care.
7. Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough electronic medical records, including preoperative assessments, intraoperative notes, and postoperative progress reports.
8. Infection Control: Adhere to strict infection control protocols to prevent surgical site infections and maintain a clean and safe environment.
9. Collaboration: Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and efficient surgical procedures.
10. Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies, including adverse reactions, anaphylaxis, or cardiac events, and initiate appropriate interventions.
Qualifications:
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications
- Ideal skillsets: Pre-Op, OR, PACU, Post-Op, ASC experiences
- Bilingual both English and Spanish (not required but preferred)
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and operating room protocols
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide compassionate care
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to patient safety and quality care
