Alcohol and Drug Counselor | Olney | PA
GPASS is seeking an experienced counselor to be part of their community. The Counselor will follow DBHIDS Practice Guidelines and recovery best practices to provide behavioral health services to the individuals enrolled in our program.
Timings:
The Alcohol & Drug Counselor will be providing group therapy services for 4 hours per week on:
Tuesdays 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, and
Thursdays 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Note - There are also opportunities for a small caseload of 5-10 clients per week, on top of the group sessions.
Responsibilities:
- Provides individual and group counseling for an assigned caseload of individuals in treatment
- Create, updates, and maintains case records on each assigned participant and a timely and thorough basis
- Conduct intake assessment based on state-approved assessment
- Completes comprehensive assessment of clients' substance use history and develops individualized treatment plans, case consults, and progress DAP notes
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques as emergency situations arise
- Attend supervision, team meetings, and state-required trainings
- Maintain appropriate ethical and clinical boundaries with participants and staff
- Reviews clinical documents if needed
- Complete ASAM as needed
- Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any times by the Director either verbally or in writing, but not without notifying the employee
Requirements:
- 2 years of experience providing group and individual therapy sessions
- Bachelor’s Degree / Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other related Human Services degree with a concentration in mental health course work preferred
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to function independently and demonstrating clinical competency
