Clinical Psychologist - Contra Costa County, CA
The Behavioral Health Division and Health Centers is offering an excellent employment opportunity with its three (3) Clinical Psychologist positions:
- One position in the Conservatorship’s Office
- One position in the Utilization Review Unit
- One position in the Pittsburg Health Center

Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat psychological disorders.
- Conduct psychological evaluations, including diagnosis and treatment recommendations.
- Perform psychotherapeutic interventions in group, individual, and family settings.
- Select, administer, and interpret standardized psychological measures.
- Provide consultative services to medical and behavioral health staff and community agencies.
- Testify in court as an expert witness in psychology.
- Provide clinical supervision to graduate students/interns.
Specific Duties by Position:
- Conservatorship’s Office:
- Evaluate clients for diagnosis and grave disability.
- Testify in court regarding diagnosis and disability.
- Perform various types of psychological testing.
- Potential appointment as Deputy Conservator.
- Utilization Review Unit:
- Perform concurrent reviews of inpatient psychiatric admissions.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) regulations.
- Pittsburg Health Center:
- Provide behavioral health interventions, intakes, and brief therapy.
- Assist with linkage to follow-up care for mild to moderately impaired patients.
- Provide brief therapy at various clinic locations throughout the County, as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- License Required:
- Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
- Possession of a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Psychology.
- Education: Doctorate Degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited educational institution.
- Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience providing psychological and behavioral health services in a medical setting or specialty behavioral health unit. This year may include pre or postdoctoral experience.
