Collaborating Physician (Remote) – PMHNP Private Practice (VA)
We are seeking an actively licensed Psychiatrist or Family Medicine Physician (MD/DO) in Virginia to establish a remote collaborative relationship (Patient Care Team Physician) with an experienced, highly independent Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
This is a purely collaborative, non-clinical oversight role with zero on-site or physical proximity requirements. The PMHNP operates entirely independently, manages her own patient panel, and handles prescriptive authority under her own license.
Key Details & Workload
Specialty Needed: Psychiatry (General, Child/Adolescent, Adult) or Family Medicine with psychiatric experience.
Location/Licensure: Active, unrestricted Virginia MD/DO license required.
Workload: Low time commitment. 4 to 5 hours per month maximum for asynchronous chart reviews and compliance check-ins.
Location Format: 100% Remote / Telehealth.
Patient Population: Adolescents and Adults (Psychiatric-Mental Health).
Provider Profile & Experience
Experienced & Independent: The NP has previously run a fully independent practice under a collaborative agreement and requires zero clinical mentorship or daily direction.
Prescribing: All controlled substances (Schedules II-VI) and psychotropic medications are prescribed directly under the NP’s own Virginia license and DEA number.
Malpractice: Fully covered. The practice maintains comprehensive professional liability insurance that fully covers and names the collaborating physician.
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted MD/DO license in Virginia.
- Active, unrestricted DEA registration.
- Must regularly practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Willingness to sign a standard Joint Boards-compliant written practice agreement.
