About the Role:
As an Endocrinology RN at a DirectShifts facility in Illinois, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients with a variety of endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid problems, and hormone imbalances. You will work collaboratively with endocrinologists, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans and empower patients to manage their conditions effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' endocrine health, monitor vital signs, and interpret test results.
- Administer medications, provide patient education on disease management and self-care techniques (e.g., insulin administration, blood sugar monitoring).
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop individualized care plans and track patient progress.
- Provide emotional support and address patient concerns related to chronic conditions.
- Maintain a sterile and safe environment for patients undergoing endocrine procedures.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and endocrinology care protocols.
Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted Illinois State RN License.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a patient care setting (endocrinology or related field preferred).
- Strong understanding of the endocrine system, hormone function, and common endocrine disorders (e.g., diabetes, thyroid disorders).
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teaching skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach with a focus on empowering patients.
