Salary Range: $132,282 - $$193,594
Position Summary :
- As an integral member of the Nursing Leadership team, the Clinical Nurse Scientist is responsible for the overall quality and operations of the Nursing Research Program.
- The Clinical Nurse Scientist exhibits technical and functional expertise in research and evidence-based practice (EBP) through the development of protocols, hypotheses, and educational curricula.
- The Clinical Nurse Scientist coordinates the daily activities of a designated study or group of studies and maintains industry relationships and guides the training of nursing and other clinical staff on good clinical practice and external regulatory agency requirements.
- The Clinical Nurse Scientist collaborates with other departments to ensure the nursing research and evidence-based practice process is utilized efficiently and is directed at achieving optimal outcomes.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
- Understands and adheres to WPH Performance Standards, Policies & Behaviors.
- Develops scientific protocols and research inquiries independently and collaboratively with the nursing staff.
- Provides technical expertise in research studies and EBP projects.
- Coordinates research and EBP projects for Magnet Program Designation.
- Collaborates with Magnet Program Director to support Magnet writing.
- Implements research and EBP education core curriculum for staff.
- Prepares manuscripts for publication and disseminates findings.
- Conducts statistical analysis with biostatisticians for collaborative research.
- Oversees clinical research staff and study participants as needed.
- Pursues extramural funding opportunities and collaborates with healthcare providers.
- Operates independently with complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation.
- Mentors and supports staff in writing and EBP projects.
- Maintains records of research studies and EBP projects.
- Participates in the Institutional Review Board and hospital committees.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and promotes positive customer service.
- Supports hospital initiatives and acts as a positive change agent.
- Collaborates with CNO and Vice President of Nursing.
- Serves as a member of the Nursing Leadership team.
- Participates in the development and utilization of the nursing practice framework.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Current NY State RN License required
- BSN, MSN, and Ph.D. or DNP required
- Receive nursing-related national certification, Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) or Certified Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) within 3 years of hire/transfer
- Minimum of 3 years experience in clinical nursing
