Job Responsibilities:
- Assists dentist during examination and treatment of patients
- Prepares patient and patient room for procedures
- Sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays
- Prepares materials, and assists dentist during dental procedures
- Takes and records medical and dental histories of patients
- Facilitates related services for health center clients as appropriate with respect to their confidentiality and privacy
- Develops and mounts dental diagnostic x-rays
- Pours, trims and polishes study casts
- Assists dentist in management of dental emergencies
- Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs
- Schedules appointments, generates and closes encounters, prepares bills and receives payment for dental services, completes insurance forms, and maintains clerical records
- Orders supplies and maintains updated inventory
- Performs other related duties, as assigned
Qualification:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certificate of completion of course of study in Dental Assisting
- Three months or more of related experience and/or training
