Key Responsibilities:
- Triage and assess patients presenting to the Emergency Department based on acuity and clinical urgency.
- Provide rapid, evidence-based interventions for medical, surgical, trauma, and behavioral emergencies.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments per physician orders and nursing judgment.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other team members to coordinate patient care.
- Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes promptly using appropriate emergency protocols.
- Prepare patients for procedures and assist in resuscitation and stabilization efforts (e.g., Code Blue, stroke alerts, trauma activations).
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families during crisis situations.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing).
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse license in the State of South Carolina or a compact state.
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required or must be obtained within 6 months
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Preferred or must be obtained within 6 months
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Preferred
- Experience: One year of nursing experience in an Emergency Department or acute care setting preferred. New graduates may be considered based on clinical performance and internship experience.
