Hiring for Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (ED)

Key Responsibilities:

• Triage and assess patients presenting to the Emergency Department based on acuity and clinical urgency.
• Provide rapid, evidence-based interventions for medical, surgical, trauma, and behavioral emergencies.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments per physician orders and nursing judgment.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other team members to coordinate patient care.
• Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes promptly using appropriate emergency protocols.
• Prepare patients for procedures and assist in resuscitation and stabilization efforts (e.g., Code Blue, stroke alerts, trauma activations).
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families during crisis situations.
• Ensure adherence to infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing).
• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse license in the State of South Carolina or a compact state.
• Certifications Required:

1. BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
2. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required or must be obtained within 6 months
3. PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Preferred or must be obtained within 6 months
4. TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Preferred

• Experience: One year of nursing experience in an Emergency Department or acute care setting preferred. New graduates may be considered based on clinical performance and internship experience.
