Job Title: Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med-Surg RN)
Location: Port Jefferson, NY
Shift : Days / Nights
Role : Perdiem
Position Summary:
The Med-Surg RN provides direct patient care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient progress, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
- Monitor patient condition and report changes appropriately
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments safely
- Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment and discharge plans
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and ancillary staff
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety, and infection control standards
- Respond effectively in emergency situations
Qualifications:
- Active New York State RN License required
- BLS certification required
- ACLS
- Previous Med-Surg or acute care experience preferred
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
