Position Overview

Join a leading periodontal practice dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care. As a Periodontal Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the periodontist during surgical and non-surgical periodontal procedures while ensuring a safe, efficient, and patient-focused clinical environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments for periodontal procedures.
  • Assist the periodontist during surgical and non-surgical treatments, including:
  • Scaling and root planing
  • Crown lengthening
  • Dental implant placement
  • Soft tissue grafting
  • Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene, periodontal care, and post-operative instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and sterilization protocols.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of dental instruments and clinical supplies.
  • Support patient scheduling and communication as needed.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to deliver exceptional patient care.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program.
  • 1–2 years of hands-on Dental Assistant experience, preferably in a periodontal or oral surgery setting.
  • Current New York State Dental Assistant certification/registration (if required by state regulations).
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification.
  • Knowledge of infection control and sterilization procedures.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and patient care skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience assisting with periodontal surgeries and dental implant procedures.
  • X-ray Certification (if applicable).
  • Familiarity with electronic dental records and dental practice management software.
