Hiring II Telemetry Technician
Job Summary:
The IMC Telemetry Technician is a vital member of the patient care team responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring of patients in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMC). This role involves observing cardiac rhythms, identifying arrhythmias or changes in patient status, and promptly communicating findings to the nursing and medical staff to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and recognize abnormal heart rhythms or arrhythmias.
- Notify nurses and physicians promptly of significant rhythm changes or monitor alarms.
- Obtain and document baseline rhythm strips each shift and perform routine EKG interpretations.
- Monitor and verify alarm settings and ensure proper functioning of telemetry equipment.
- Apply, remove, initiate, and discontinue telemetry monitoring equipment as needed.
- Print and document rhythm strips according to unit protocol.
- Troubleshoot monitoring equipment issues and coordinate with Bio-Med when necessary.
- Maintain accurate monitoring logs, downtime records, and patient documentation.
- Support safe transport procedures for monitored patients.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff and the healthcare team.
- Provide shift handoff communication and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- BCLS Certification required.
- Minimum one (1) year of recent hospital experience as a Telemetry Technician preferred.
- OR successful completion of an Advanced Medical Technician program required.
- Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and perform EKG analysis.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
- Must successfully complete the Interfaith Medical Center EKG course.
Shifts : Evenings 3p - 11p w/ Every Other Weekend. 5x8 shifts
