Job Description:

Title: Point of Care Coordinator

Department/Location: Department of Laboratories

FLSA Status: NE

Reports to: Chemistry/Immunology Supervisor

Position Summary:

• Under the supervision of the chemistry supervisor, applies practical and theoretical knowledge of clinical chemistry as it applies to point-of-care testing activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned. 
• Position overlaps all areas where point of care testing takes place, on-site, and off-site.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:

• Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
• Oversees all aspects of point-of-care operation and testing,
• Point of care validation and quality measures
• Oversees the quality assurance and proficiency testing programs for point of care.
• Ensures the point of care instrument interface is maintained and operational.
• Performs dictionary maintenance on the point-of-care interface.
• Acts as liaison between lab and nursing leadership as it relates to point-of-care testing to assure regulatory compliance of point-of-care testing personnel.
• Review all point-of-care reports.
• Ensure regulatory requirements are met regarding the proper use of point-of-care testing.
• Assists with staff training as required.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• New York State Medical Technologist license is required.
• B.S. degree in Medical Technology or Laboratory Science.
• ASCP or NCA certification preferred.
