Title: Point of Care Coordinator
Department/Location: Department of Laboratories
FLSA Status: NE
Reports to: Chemistry/Immunology Supervisor
Position Summary:
- Under the supervision of the chemistry supervisor, applies practical and theoretical knowledge of clinical chemistry as it applies to point-of-care testing activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Position overlaps all areas where point of care testing takes place, on-site, and off-site.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
- Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
- Oversees all aspects of point-of-care operation and testing,
- Point of care validation and quality measures
- Oversees the quality assurance and proficiency testing programs for point of care.
- Ensures the point of care instrument interface is maintained and operational.
- Performs dictionary maintenance on the point-of-care interface.
- Acts as liaison between lab and nursing leadership as it relates to point-of-care testing to assure regulatory compliance of point-of-care testing personnel.
- Review all point-of-care reports.
- Ensure regulatory requirements are met regarding the proper use of point-of-care testing.
- Assists with staff training as required.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- New York State Medical Technologist license is required.
- B.S. degree in Medical Technology or Laboratory Science.
- ASCP or NCA certification preferred.
