Position Summary
The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Assess, monitor, and care for patients with moderate to high acuity conditions.
Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments per physician orders.
Monitor cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic status, and changes in patient condition.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning.
Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (ADN or BSN required; BSN preferred).
Active RN license in South Carolina or Compact State License.
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
ACLS certification preferred.
Minimum 1–2 years of recent PCU, Step-Down, Telemetry, Critical Care, or Acute Care experience preferred.
Preferred Experience
Cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation.
Management of IV drips and high-acuity patients.
Neurology, telemetry, step-down, or critical care nursing experience.
Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
Schedule
12-hour Day or Night shifts.
Weekend and holiday rotation as required by the unit.
Required Certifications
RN License
BLS (AHA)
ACLS (Preferred)
