Responsibilities:

• Assessment Skills:
• Provide competent patient care for all growth stages from Pediatric to Geriatric.
• Conduct thorough, systematic, comprehensive, and accurate patient assessments.
• Clinical Skills:
• Demonstrate competent clinical skills and deliver direct patient care.
• Provide appropriate nursing care to the unit's population.
• Use emergency equipment and perform emergency procedures proficiently.
• Documentation:
• Maintain complete and accurate patient documentation.
• Adhere to documentation guidelines and assume primary responsibility for documenting the nursing process and patient progress.
• Professionalism:
• Exhibit professional practice responsibility and knowledge of policies and procedures.
• Identify areas for clinical and professional growth.
• Patient Satisfaction:
• Respond to patients, families, and coworkers professionally and courteously.
• Promote a patient-centered environment, maintaining confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
• Safety:
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals and use Universal Protocol.
• Identify patients using 2 identifiers and use safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.
• Unit Specific Job Function:
• Understand conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment for surgical patients.
• Individualized patient care according to procedure and type of anesthesia.
• Assess patient reaction and understanding of procedures/instructions.
• Responsibility and Accountability:
• Prioritize patient care based on needs and condition changes.
• Contribute to the perioperative team by assuming accountability for patient care.
• Patient Education and Chart Completion:
• Educate patients and families about surgical procedures and instructions.
• Perform pre-operative and postoperative assessments and education.
• Specific to PAT RN:
• Ensure timely completion of patient testing.
• Evaluate Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness based on surgery, patient age, and health state.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Experience: 2 years of critical care experience.
• Licenses & Certifications: RN License - Required, BLS - Required, ACLS - Required
• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Associates or Bachelor's Degree - Preferred
