Responsible and accountable for utilizing the nursing process in the provision of patient care. The Registered Nurse, in collaboration with other members of the health care team, assesses, implements, evaluates and coordinates all patient care activities, as appropriate to the age of the patients served and areas of practice.
Responsibilities
- Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, cognitive and cultural diversity of the patient
- Applies knowledge of illness, injuries and diseases and uses available resources in assessment processes
- Provides written assessment of patient on admission and subsequently; based on patient need and IMC policy
- Formulates a goal directed, individualized plan of care, prioritizes and utilizes efficient resources as developed from documented nursing diagnoses/patient care and outcomes
- Collaborates as appropriate with physician and other clinical disciplines in planning interventions to meet patient and family needs
- Implements plan of care, executing nursing interventions in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures
- Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patients and families
- Documents nursing interventions provided to meet assessed patient/family needs
- Evaluates and documents patient response to and outcome of care provided and revises plan of care accordingly
- Participates actively in staff development activities for unit and provides support and guidance to colleagues
- Participates in performance improvement activities for hospital and unit/service
- Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team
- Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Experience:
Minimum two (2) years' PACU experience in an acute care setting.
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
Licenses, Certifications:
- Current NY State RN License required
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)/ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
