Iron County Medical Center currently is seeking a MLT/MT Traveler for a full time, 13 week
Start Date: As soon as credentialed
Schedule: Days – Rotating schedule 4on/3off (10 hour shifts)
o The accommodation is an apartment supplied with a kitchenette, a private bathroom and a bedroom. There is a laundry room onsite. There is a TV and internet connection. The candidate filling this travel position will be provided meals in the cafeteria free of charge if they elect to eat meals at the hospital.
The ICMC laboratory is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The ICMC patients may have labs ordered as part of their regular checkup, to monitor a medication or disease, or to aid in diagnosis. At Iron County Medical Laboratory the team is dedicated to producing quality laboratory results quickly to support the diagnosis and decisions for the patient and doctor.
The ICMC laboratory works with employers to collect pre-employment, random, and post-accident specimens on hair and urine. We are FormFox compatible and can collect specimens for clients utilizing Quest Diagnostics, Medtox, Clinical Laboratory Reference (CLR), Labcorp, and many others. ICMC is a draw site for refine labs such as LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics.
ICMC performs the following in-house testing for STAT, in-patient and out-patient services:
o Chemistry: Basic and Comprehensive Metabolic Panels, Lipid and Triglycerides, Electrolytes, Glucose, Hemoglobin A1c, Liver and Kidney Function Panels, Amylase, Lipase, and Uric Acid
o Immunology: Influenza A/B, Mono, Thyroid Panels, PSA, Qualitative and Quantitative hCG, and Therapeutic Drug Levels
o Hematolgoy: Complete Blood Count (CBC), Sedimentation Rate (ESR), Hemoglobin and Hematocrit (H&H) and Platelet Counts
o Coagulation: Protimes with INR (PT), D-Dimers, and PTT
o Urine: Urinalysis with Microscopic Exams and Urine Cultures
o Transfusion Services: Blood Typing, Antibody Screening, Crossmatching, Blood/Plasma/Platelet Transfusion (out-patient transfusion services available)
o Microbiology: Cultures with Organism ID and Antibiotic Sensitivities for all sources
o Pathology: Diagnostic tissue biopsy, Cytology (including Fine Needle Aspiration) and Histology
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical phases of testing in accordance with established protocol
Identify abnormal or unexpected results, initiate follow-up testing, physician notification, and/or corrective action plan.
Display compassionate care to all patients
Perform Quality Control per laboratory guidelines and troubleshoot out-of-range Quality Control
Possess experience in instrumentation calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting
Provide laboratory diagnostic services during regular and after regular business hours per CLIA regulations
Provide prompt and courteous assistance to other laboratory and medical staff personnel on an as-needed, as time allows basis
Graduation from nationally accredited MLS/MT/MLT program or current ASCP, or equivalent, certification.
6 months or more experience as MLS/MT/MLT
Candidates must have normal color vision
Must be able to multi-task, exercise good judgment, be dependable, and capable of independently carrying out assigned tasks and day-to-day duties.
Candidate will need to be able to stand for long periods with occasional bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, twisting and/or turning and pushing or pulling objects. Candidates must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. unassisted
Possess organizational skills and clearly communicate orders and results to staff
Proven interpersonal relationship/team player skills
About Pilot Knob, MO
Pilot Knob is a city in Iron County, Missouri. The population was 746 at the 2010 census. It lies eight miles south of Belgrade and thirteen miles east of Centerville, MO. The Battle of Pilot Knob in the fall of 1864 was a notable clash in the area during the Civil War. A museum near the battle site is dedicated to this event. Each third year the Battle of Pilot Knob re- enactment is held at the historic site.
