Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker- Integrated Behavioral Health Care (IBHC) 20th Medical Group, Shaw AFB, SC 29152

Integrated Behavioral Health Care (IBHC) is the integration of behavioral health and primary care. The LCSW works together with primary care providers along with the patients and families to provide patient-centered care. This care may address mental health and substance abuse conditions, health behaviors (including their contribution to chronic medical illnesses), life stressors and crises and stress-related physical symptoms. Behavioral health encompasses behavioral factors in chronic illness care, care of physical symptoms associated with stress rather than diseases, and health behaviors, as well as mental health and substance abuse conditions and diagnoses. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW). Education: Graduate from a School of Social Work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
  • The contractor will be required to attend and pass the IBHC course upon start of employment
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in any state

JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide brief (typically no more than four appointments) cognitive/behavioral interventions in primary care under the Air Force consultation model (i.e., per the Air Force Behavioral Health Optimization Program Practice Manual). Services will mimic the pace of primary care (i.e., patients seen for 15- to 30-minute appointments). 
  • Independently assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their family members and formulate and implement a treatment plan, identifying the patient’s problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills and assistance needed, in collaboration with the patient, family and interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Independently conduct psychosocial assessments and provide psychosocial treatment to a wide variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, educational and other diverse backgrounds.
  • Use medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities and treatment procedures. This includes acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses/injuries, common medications and their effects/side effects, and medical terminology.
  • Independently provide counseling and/or psychotherapy services to individuals, groups, couples, and families
  • Provide consultation services to other staff about the psychosocial needs of patients and the impact of psychosocial problems on health care and compliance with treatment

    Salary Range: $73,000-$77,000/yr
