Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial assessments of expectant and postpartum mothers to determine their health status, medical history, and care needs
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessment findings, physician recommendations, and patient preferences
  • Provide prenatal education and counseling on topics such as nutrition, exercise, childbirth preparation, breastfeeding, and newborn care
  • Monitor maternal and fetal health through regular assessments, including blood pressure checks, fetal heart rate monitoring, and prenatal testing
  • Assist with labor support, including pain management techniques, emotional support, and guidance during the childbirth process
  • Provide postpartum care and support to mothers and newborns, including breastfeeding assistance, wound care, medication management, and newborn care education
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and manage comprehensive care for mothers and babies
  • Educate and empower mothers to make informed decisions about their health and the health of their babies

Requirements

  • Two years of previous acute care experience in MedSurg, Maternal and child care, Critical Care, Pediatrics
  • Current Maternal Child home health experience 

Education:

  • New York State RN License
  • Primary Source Verification
  • AHA BLS

Notes : Bronx Up to 40 hours a week depending on patient home visits. Workers must be comfortable with possibly covering cases in other boroughs.
