Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough physical assessments, review medical histories, and perform ongoing monitoring to identify changes in patients' conditions. Recognize signs of complications and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications and treatments, ensuring accurate dosing and monitoring for any adverse reactions. Educate patients about their medications and potential side effects.
- Wound Care: Expertly provide wound care management for post-operative patients and those with chronic wounds, ensuring proper dressing changes and infection prevention.
- Surgical Support: Assist in pre-operative preparation, intra-operative care, and post-operative recovery, monitoring patients closely for any signs of complications.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies for a safe and smooth transition from the hospital to home.
- Pain Management: Implement pain management strategies and collaborate with the healthcare team to find the most effective ways to control patients' pain.
- Medical Procedures: Assist in various medical procedures, including catheterization, IV placement, and other treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record system.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) considered with relevant experience and active matriculation in a BSN program (approval required).
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a relevant clinical setting.
- New graduates must possess current knowledge of the nursing process and its application.
- Licensed RN with current registration in New York State.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA).
