About the Role:
As a Mother-Baby RN at a DirectShifts facility in Florida, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to mothers and newborns during the crucial postpartum period. You will work collaboratively with pediatricians, lactation consultants, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal health outcomes for both moms and babies.
Responsibilities:
- Assess maternal and newborn health, monitor vital signs, and identify potential complications.
- Provide breastfeeding support and education to mothers and newborns.
- Assist mothers with newborn care routines, such as bathing, feeding, and diapering.
- Educate mothers on postpartum recovery, physical and emotional changes, and self-care strategies.
- Monitor newborn development and address any feeding or growth concerns.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to new parents as they adjust to parenthood.
- Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for mothers and newborns on the postpartum unit.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and postpartum care protocols.
Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted Florida State RN License.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in postpartum nursing or a related field (e.g., pediatrics, women's health).
- Strong understanding of postpartum recovery, newborn development, and breastfeeding principles.
- BLS certification (Basic Life Support) is mandatory. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and assessment skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach with a focus on supporting families during a vulnerable time.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and prioritize tasks efficiently.
