This is a position whose focus is delivery of health care in the clinic environment. Position responsibilities include ensuring continuity of patient care, facilitating problem solving, and assuring compliance with established policies and procedures, ongoing surveillance and evaluation of patients and personnel. Provides direct and indirect patient care in the clinic setting. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Maintains quality delivery of patient care by completing patient assignments in compliance with State regulations and established Hospital Policies and Procedures. Strives daily to give all customers very good care and promotes Western Plains Medical Complex Standards of Behavior and performs other duties as assigned. Fully licensed with active and current State of Kansas license Advanced Registered Practical Nurse. BCLS, required PALS, and ACLS preferred. Western Plains Medical Complex is a Joint Commission-accredited, 99-bed hospital that serves as a regional referral center for southwest Kansas. Western Plains provides health services that include Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology, a Cardiac Cath Lab and Cardiac Rehabilitation. We have imaging and diagnostic radiology services including a 64-slice CT, GE Lunar Bone Densitometer, Ultrasound, Digital Mammography and Stereotactic biopsy, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, 24-hr. Western Plains Medical Complex is the only hospital in Southwest Kansas to earn the distinction of Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance. We are also recognized as a Mission Lifeline STEMI receiving facility, as well as a Certified Stroke Emergent facility.
We have a Women’s Center which has four labor/delivery rooms and six mother/baby rooms as well as its own set of surgery suites for C-sections. It is a Level II Nursery. We average about 780 deliveries per year. We also have a hospital-owned free-standing Surgery Center for those procedures that do not require full hospital support.
The colorful history of Dodge City began with the opening of the Santa Fe Trail in 1821.
