Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) – Nurse Educator to join our healthcare team in [Location]. The Nurse Educator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical education programs for nursing staff to ensure competency, quality patient care, and compliance with regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong Labor & Delivery background, solid clinical skills, and experience in nursing education or training. This is a 13-week engagement and will not extend beyond the original contract period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver educational programs and clinical training for nursing and allied health staff.
  • Assess staff competency and provide mentorship to enhance clinical performance and professional development.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership to identify learning needs and implement education strategies that improve patient care.
  • Develop orientation, in-service, and continuing education materials in alignment with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of education programs through outcomes and staff feedback.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and promote evidence-based practice.
  • Maintain detailed records of training activities, evaluations, and certifications.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model, fostering a culture of continuous learning and patient safety.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Labor & Delivery experience.
  • Strong clinical background with advanced assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication, teaching, and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to engage and motivate nursing staff at all levels.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and educational technology tools.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Previous experience as a Nurse Educator or Clinical Instructor (preferred but not required).

Education:

  • Required: Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher.

Certifications & Licensure:

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Primary Source Verification of RN License and Registration through the New York State Department of Education (NYSED).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Schedule Notes:

  • Minimum two (2) years of Labor & Delivery experience required.
  • Assignment is for 13 weeks and will not extend beyond the original engagement period.
