About the Role:
As an Orthopedic RN at a DirectShifts facility in Florida, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing surgery, treatment, or rehabilitation for musculoskeletal conditions. You will work collaboratively with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes throughout their recovery journey.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and manage pain effectively.
- Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, including preparing patients for surgery and monitoring their recovery.
- Educate patients and their families on orthopedic conditions, treatment plans, and rehabilitation exercises.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to patients as they regain mobility and independence.
- Administer medications, manage wounds, and assist with therapeutic procedures as directed by the healthcare team.
- Prepare and sterilely maintain operating rooms and patient care areas.
- Assist surgeons during orthopedic procedures (depending on the facility).
- Adhere to all hospital policies and best practices for orthopedic care.
Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted Florida State RN License.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical/surgical setting (experience in orthopedics or bone and joint care is preferred).
- Strong understanding of the musculoskeletal system, common orthopedic conditions (fractures, arthritis, sports injuries), and surgical procedures.
- BLS certification (Basic Life Support) is mandatory. Certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) is a plus.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach with a focus on supporting patients during recovery and rehabilitation.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, manage multiple tasks efficiently, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
