The Infection Control PNP is responsible for effective direction, management, and operation of the infection prevention and control program including education of employees on infection prevention and control measures and ensures compliance of regulatory standards for infection prevention. This position has direct oversight of infection prevention measures, outbreak investigations, employee health requirements, antibiotic stewardship program and overall direction of the infection control program. This position works hand in hand with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Manager of Clinical Services and Quality to ensure compliance with the infection prevention program. SUMMARY: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Establishes, implements and administers infection prevention and control. Ensures that annual infection control goals are created and met. Conducts ongoing review of organizational infection control policies, procedures, and guidelines to identify discrepancies and implements revisions as necessary. Works with department managers, supervisors, and providers to provide resource information and provide new opportunities to improve the infection control program. Directs and assists in preparing reports and statistical data for infection control committee, antibiotic stewardship program, and other committees as needed. Makes recommendations regarding construction, renovation, environmental rounds, and ensures compliance with professional standards. Acts as Chair of the Infection Prevention and Control Committee. Completes departmental infection control training for onboarding. Oversees and coordinates all employee health requirements for new hires and annual health requirements. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: The Pediatric APRN/RN is responsible for providing direct patient care; Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current NV license or a valid temporary license required; At least one (1) year of inpatient pediatric experience preferred. Minimum of one (1) year bedside nursing in past 2 years preferred. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 3-5 years in healthcare experience required. Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Nevada required, APRN license preferred. Bachelor’s Degree required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple clinical tasks Ability to educate other healthcare professionals Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring that other departments and services are included in the healthcare plan Knowledge and skill in effective communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge and skill to use a computer Skill and capability to efficiently make decisions independently Knowledge and experience in staff education and training Knowledge and demonstrated experience in quality management and assurance practices Ability to maintain quality safety and infection control standards REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; exhibit independent judgment in the development, implementation, and evaluation of plans, procedures and policies; and interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business and medical periodicals, professional journals, financial reports, legal documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; efficiently respond to questions from membership, staff, and members of the community; communicates effectively in both written and oral form; and, effectively presents information to membership, top management, public group, and/or board of directors.
