Per Diem (no scheduled hours or benefits), Day, Mon-Fri, 0700-3pm
Hours per Pay Period: PRN
Graduate accredited school of Nurse Anesthetists.
PURPOSE OF YOUR POSITION
The primary purpose of your position as a member of the health care team is to provide anesthesia services based on the daily caseload and to coordinate services with the anesthesiologist.
Must possess a preference for working with people. The ability to deal effectively with all members of the surgical team is necessary. Should have the ability to reassure patients prior to the administration of anesthesia. Must be able to perform under stressful conditions. Also, must be able to react quickly and effectively in making decisions. A preference for activities related to machines and techniques’ following accepted procedures and standards is needed. Must be able to apply knowledge of anesthesia to maximum comfort and health of patients during surgery. You are delegated the authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties within your scope of practice. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in situations requiring tact and diplomacy with staff, patients, and visitors. You must be comfortable dealing with a variety of diverse personalities. Every effort was made to make this job description as complete as possible. Work requires frequent walking to various areas of the department and prolonged standing or sitting. Must be able to stand, bend, lift and grab necessary items to maintain and perform procedures (21-50% of work time).
Work requires frequently lifting of boxes of fluids and equipment up to 50 lbs and frequent maneuvering and positioning patients up to 200 lbs. May occasionally be required to work with heavier capacities with mechanical lifts, walkers, additional staff, etc (6-20% of work time).
Work occasionally requires other activities including; pushing/pulling stretchers, climbing stairs, stooping and kneeling (6-20% of work time)
Work requires manual dexterity for purposes of utilizing necessary equipment and handling instruments.
Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Ability to visually compare and assess color distinction to determine patients adequate ventilation.
Generally good working conditions may frequently experience discomfort due to excessive noise or crowded conditions (21-50% of work time).
Work may frequently involve distasteful patient related activities. Frequent potential exposure to infectious diseases (21-50% of work time).
Minimal exposure to chemicals, solvents and radiation. (21-50% of work time).
Subject to injury from confused, combative patients, families and visitors.
May be required to be available for on-call and/or available to work weekends.

Satisfactory completion of an accredited school of nursing, current Pennsylvania license and proof of license. Meets criteria to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as established by the professional nursing law.
Must be graduate of an accredited school of Nurse Anesthesia accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Educational Programs of Nurse Anesthesia of the Nurse Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Proof of acceptable credentials of training and experience.
Must be certified as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the Council on Certification or on Re-certification of Nurse Anesthetists of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists within one year following completion of the educational program.
ACLS, PALS, and BLS certification required.
Pennsylvania state police criminal record check, child abuse history clearance and an FBI criminal history check required.
Work requires basic computer literacy skills and keyboard proficiency. Experience working with clinical documentation systems, hospital information systems and electronic charting preferred. Work requires basic skills in Microsoft Word.
Work requires interpersonal skills to communicate with team members. Team collaboration is frequently required to provide the highest quality of care. A high level of social sensitivity when communicating with patients to comfort patients, families and visitors, explain procedures and/or tests, and give instructions. Must be compassionate, professional, and empathetic when handling patient complaints and concerns while remaining focused on providing a positive patient experience (more than 80% of work time).
Work requires analytical ability to assess and monitor patients and provide appropriate care. Must be able to integrate and interpret data from diverse sources to identify solutions. Must be able to accept and complete responsibilities without direct supervision (51-80% of work time).
Work requires a high level of mental and visual focus requiring mental application and attention to detail. Work is performed under tight deadlines, must possess excellent time management and functional organizational skills to manage a variety of tasks in a short period of time (more than 80% of work time).
