The Permanente Medical Group, Inc. is seeking a Perinatal Pathologist with special certification in Pediatric Pathology to join our busy Regional subspecialty service in Oakland, CA.
Duties include the evaluation of placentas, early pregnancy loss specimens (including molar pregnancy), peripartum hysterectomy specimens, and fetal and infant autopsies. Two dedicated pathologists' assistants and one program coordinator provide support to the department. The service receives specimens from an integrated regional system of 18 hospitals performing more than 40,000 deliveries annually, with a robust unified electronic medical record system. In addition to diagnostic evaluations, duties will include direct teaching of obstetric residents in the laboratory and via lectures, CME, M&M and in-service presentations of interesting cases, and post-autopsy family meetings (in Oakland and occasionally at other local facilities). Five years of previous experience is preferred, however, recent trainees with appropriate qualifications will be considered. Candidates can be trained in AP/CP or AP-only.
