The Physician Assistant (PA) provides primary health care services under the supervision of his/her supervising Physician or Surgeon. Main objective is to facilitate continuity of care from admission to discharge. Supervised duties may include performing in-house consultations,, assist in the OR and in the ED, prescribe and dispense medication, interpreting the results of diagnostic tests, diagnosing and treating patients, visiting and observing patients in the hospital, and providing counsel to patients’ family members.

Requirements:

-Graduate Degree from an accredited PA School required.  

-Licensure as a PA in New York State required. 

-Certification as a PA by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) OR 5 years surgical PA experience is required.

-For graduates prior to 1986, completion of degree from non-accredited program is acceptable if certified through PANCE exam (Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination) required.  

-BLS & ACLS certificate required.
