Physician Assistant, Trauma Lebanon, NH
DirectShifts is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join an established and collaborative group on the Trauma & Acute Care Surgery team.
The Physician Assistant will be dedicated to inpatient care on the high volume Trauma & Acute Care Surgery service, which is comprised of trauma and emergency general surgery patients.
They will work collaboratively with a team of advanced practitioners dedicated to the Trauma & Acute Care Surgery service.
As such, the advanced practitioner will have a strong interest in the care of injured and acutely ill general surgical patients.
The PA will report to a designee of the Chief of the Division of Trauma & Acute Care Surgery, who will be responsible for the clinical and general oversight of the position.
The Practice Manager of the section of General Surgery will oversee administrative issues.
The designated Supervising Physician will evaluate the practitioner's clinical skills and overall competency as part of his or her annual performance review with input from the Practice Manger, and members of the Division of Trauma & Acute Care Surgery.
This position is grounded in the multidisciplinary team approach to management of patients on the floor and step-down units.
The trauma & acute care surgery practitioner works closely and continuously with rehab services, case management, nursing, consulting services, and general surgery residents and attending physicians.
The PA must maintain patient and family centered focus through the hospital course and in consideration of the patients reintegration into their home setting.
This makes the advanced practitioner role one heavily focused on management of complex social situations and planning for safe, successful hospital discharge.
Minimum Education & Experience
1 year of advanced practice experience required for this position
Previous trauma experience REQUIRED
(Only candidates with trauma experience will be considered)
Requirements For Physician Assistants
Current (or eligible) certification to practice as a Physician's Assistant in NH.
Academic preparation at the Master's level required.
