Physician - Asynchronous Clinical Care
The Physician will play a crucial role in providing asynchronous clinical care to patients seeking assessment and treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) through our innovative digital platform. This position focuses on delivering high-quality, efficient care through a "store-and-forward" model, enabling patients to receive timely diagnoses and treatment plans without the need for in-person visits.
Responsibilities:
- Review Digital Clinical Interviews:
- Evaluate comprehensive digital clinical interviews completed by patients.
- Assess patient information, including snoring severity, daytime somnolence, respiratory issues during sleep, hypertension, height, weight, age, neck circumference, and gender assigned at birth.
Screening and Diagnosis:
- Utilize a digital algorithm to screen patient data.
- Review cases where the algorithm indicates equivocal or positive results.
- Conduct additional assessments, including diabetes history and Epsworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) scoring.
- Perform an extended clinical interview for confirmed positive screens, covering medical history, medication use, and additional health conditions.
Clinical Documentation:
- Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of all patient interactions and assessments in the electronic medical records system.
- Synthesize collected data into a clinical note, including diagnoses and treatment plans.
- Approve the clinical note and associated prescriptions if the diagnosis is accurate.
Treatment Plan Management:
- Prescribe automated positive airway pressure (APAP) machines.
- Schedule virtual mask fittings and respiratory therapist visits.
- Coordinate follow-up telephone meetings with sleep coaches for ongoing patient support.
Quality Assurance:
- Complete reviews of digital clinical interviews within 36 business hours.
- Ensure high-quality care by identifying cases requiring in-person evaluation and redirecting patients as necessary.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO with Board Certification in a relevant specialty.
- Active medical license in one or more states, including but not limited to FL, CA, GA, NY, NJ, MD, VA, IL, and TX.
- Experience with telemedicine or asynchronous care preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Commitment to providing culturally appropriate care to a diverse patient population.
