Key Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care:
- Assist in the development and implementation of treatment plans for individuals with psychiatric disorders.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, including administering medication (if applicable) and offering crisis management.
- Monitor patients’ behavior and physical condition, reporting any changes to the supervising healthcare provider.
- Assist in group therapy sessions, behavioral assessments, and activities aimed at promoting mental health recovery.
Crisis Management:
- Respond to patients in crisis situations, offering de-escalation techniques and ensuring the safety of both the patients and staff.
- Observe and report any signs of acute mental health issues, potential self-harm, or other risks.
- Help maintain a secure and safe environment, especially in correctional settings.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical and behavioral observations.
- Work closely with healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, to coordinate care.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, medical standards, and policies specific to the facility, particularly in correctional environments.
- Monitor patients during daily activities, ensuring that treatment protocols are followed, and their well-being is maintained.
- Assist in the management of medications, ensuring proper administration and documentation.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care.
- Assist in treatment evaluations and case reviews for continuous improvement of care delivery.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Some positions may require an associate degree or certification in psychiatric technology or a related field.
- Licensure: Must have an active psychiatric technician license issued by the BON/DORA.
- Experience: Prior experience working in a psychiatric or correctional facility is preferred but not always required.
