Key Responsibilities:

Direct Patient Care:

Assist in the development and implementation of treatment plans for individuals with psychiatric disorders.
Provide therapeutic interventions, including administering medication (if applicable) and offering crisis management.
Monitor patients’ behavior and physical condition, reporting any changes to the supervising healthcare provider.
Assist in group therapy sessions, behavioral assessments, and activities aimed at promoting mental health recovery.

Crisis Management:

Respond to patients in crisis situations, offering de-escalation techniques and ensuring the safety of both the patients and staff.
Observe and report any signs of acute mental health issues, potential self-harm, or other risks.
Help maintain a secure and safe environment, especially in correctional settings.

Administrative Duties:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical and behavioral observations.
Work closely with healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, to coordinate care.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure adherence to safety protocols, medical standards, and policies specific to the facility, particularly in correctional environments.
Monitor patients during daily activities, ensuring that treatment protocols are followed, and their well-being is maintained.
Assist in the management of medications, ensuring proper administration and documentation.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care.
Assist in treatment evaluations and case reviews for continuous improvement of care delivery.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Some positions may require an associate degree or certification in psychiatric technology or a related field.
Licensure: Must have an active psychiatric technician license issued by the BON/DORA.
Experience: Prior experience working in a psychiatric or correctional facility is preferred but not always required.
