We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Clinicians to join our team and provide quality mental health care to incarcerated adult men at Rikers Island. Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and the Mental Health Unit Chief, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by conducting mental health evaluations, crisis interventions, assessments, and follow-up care.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality mental health care to incarcerated adult men under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and Mental Health Unit Chief.
  • Conduct mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, assessments, and follow-up care.
  • Determine and coordinate disposition of patients for appropriate level of mental health care.
  • Coordinate with Reentry Social Workers for discharge planning services.
  • Complete required statistical reports.
  • Collaborate with the Department of Correction to ensure access to patients, proper housing, and treatment disposition.
  • Coordinate patient care with other institutional programs.
  • Develop and lead group treatment on mental health observation units and other assigned units.
  • Complete all required documentation.
  • Participate in clinical supervision with Clinical Supervisor at least once a week.
  • Participate in mental health and medical rounds as assigned.
  • Participate in case conferences and treatment planning for patients receiving and being considered for mental health treatment.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • New York State License in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or licensure in Psychology.
  • Experience conducting both assessment and treatment with adults with behavioral problems, substance use histories, and severe mental illness is preferred.
  • Preference given to applicants with inpatient or related experience.
