About the Role:
As a Pulmonary RN at a DirectShifts facility in NYC, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients with a variety of respiratory illnesses and conditions. You will work collaboratively with pulmonologists, other nurses, and respiratory therapists to ensure optimal patient outcomes throughout their treatment journey.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' respiratory health, monitor vital signs, and interpret test results like pulmonary function tests.
- Administer medications, provide respiratory treatments like nebulization and mechanical ventilation, and assist with procedures like bronchoscopy.
- Educate patients and their families about their lung condition, treatment plan, and self-management techniques.
- Provide emotional support and ensure patient comfort before, during, and after procedures.
- Maintain a sterile and safe environment for patients undergoing pulmonary interventions.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and pulmonary care protocols.
Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted New York State RN License.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in pulmonary nursing (preferred).
- Strong understanding of respiratory anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
- BLS certification (Basic Life Support) is mandatory. ACLS certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) (a plus).
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach with a focus on patient advocacy.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and prioritize tasks efficiently.
