Registered Nurse | Operating Room | Massachusetts

DirectShifts is looking for Operating Room Nurses for their team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assess and prepare patients before surgery, ensuring they are physically and emotionally prepared
• Verify surgical consent forms, medical histories, and surgical site markings
• Assist the surgical team by providing sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment
• Monitor patients during surgery, ensuring their safety and comfort
• Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
• Transfer patients to the recovery room or PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) and continue monitoring their condition
• Administer postoperative medications and provide post-op education to patients and their families
• Maintain accurate and complete medical records, including surgical counts and patient assessments
• Document any complications or unusual events during surgery
• Work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the success of surgical procedures
• Assist in troubleshooting technical issues with surgical equipment
• Advocate for patients' needs and safety throughout the perioperative process
• Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families

Requirements

• Active RN License in the State of Massachusetts
• Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN
