Responsibilities:
- Assess and prepare patients before surgery, ensuring they are physically and emotionally prepared
- Verify surgical consent forms, medical histories, and surgical site markings
- Assist the surgical team by providing sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment
- Monitor patients during surgery, ensuring their safety and comfort
- Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Transfer patients to the recovery room or PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) and continue monitoring their condition
- Administer postoperative medications and provide post-op education to patients and their families
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records, including surgical counts and patient assessments
- Document any complications or unusual events during surgery
- Work closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the success of surgical procedures
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues with surgical equipment
- Advocate for patients' needs and safety throughout the perioperative process
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Active RN License in the State of Massachusetts.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN.
