A Chicago-based hospital is actively looking for Registered Nurses with Psychiatric/Mental Health experience.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Provides efficient and well-coordinated direct patient care following the Hospital policies and procedures and standards of care as set forth by the state and federal regulations
- Performs a thorough assessment of the patient’s physical, psychosocial and/or emotional needs
- Identifies and implements nursing interventions
- Initiates patient’s discharge plan on admission
- Monitors and reports patient’s symptoms, changes in status, and diagnostic test results
- Administers treatments and medication and serves as the patient’s resource on medication indication, dosage, frequency, and side effects
- Obtains consent for psychotropic medications and seasonal immunizations
- Coordinates patient care with physicians and interdisciplinary team
- Educate patients on discharge instructions
- Coordinating follow-up care and home care needs
- Adheres to infection control protocols (e.g. CAUTI, CLABSI, VAE, SSI protocols, etc.)
- Maintains accurate medical records through complete and factual documentation
- Participates in hospital-wide quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
- Prompt reporting of all types of suspected and alleged abuse, adverse events, medication errors, and all identified unsafe practices in the Hospital
- Ensures patient safety and satisfaction
Requirements
- Previous experience in a skilled nursing center or hospital preferred
- Must have current Illinois RN license and BLS
- BSN preferred
- 1 year of experience working in a psychiatric setting
- CPR certified
- Working knowledge of general and psycho-education group therapy, therapeutic relationships, and age-specific growth and development is good to have
