Travel Position | Cardiac Cath Lab Radiology Technologist | Houston, TX
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Travel Cardiac Cath Lab Radiology Technologist to join our dynamic healthcare team in Houston, Texas. This role provides specialized imaging and procedural support for cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology procedures. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in cardiac imaging, fluoroscopy, and patient monitoring, thriving in fast-paced, high-acuity clinical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures, including angiography, stenting, pacemaker insertion, and electrophysiology studies.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy, digital radiography, and patient monitoring devices.
- Prepare and position patients safely and comfortably for cardiac and radiologic procedures.
- Monitor patient vital signs and assess condition before, during, and after procedures; alert physicians to changes promptly.
- Assist cardiologists and clinical staff with procedural techniques, equipment handling, and patient support.
- Maintain sterile technique, adhere to infection control standards, and follow radiation safety protocols.
- Document all procedures, imaging results, and patient data accurately in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot imaging equipment and participate in quality assurance and maintenance procedures.
- Educate patients and families regarding procedure preparation, post-procedure care, and safety precautions.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or a related healthcare field (Bachelor’s preferred)
- ARRT (Radiography or Cardiac Interventional Radiography) or equivalent Radiologic Technologist certification
- Active state license (Texas) or eligibility to obtain
- RCIS certification preferred
- BLS certification (required); ACLS certification (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab, interventional radiology, or cardiac imaging environment
- Proficiency in cardiac anatomy, catheterization procedures, fluoroscopic imaging techniques, and radiation safety practices
- Strong ability to operate imaging equipment, monitor patients, and assist in high-acuity procedures
- Excellent communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to new hospital environments and workflows
