Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented, and adaptable Travel Perfusionist to join our surgical team in Overland Park, Kansas. This role is ideal for a certified perfusionist with at least one year of clinical experience who is committed to delivering safe and high-quality cardiopulmonary support during cardiac surgeries. The position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced operating room environment while gaining valuable travel healthcare experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage heart-lung machines and cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) equipment during cardiac and complex surgical procedures.
  • Monitor patient hemodynamics and physiological parameters; adjust perfusion support as necessary to maintain patient stability.
  • Prepare, prime, maintain, and troubleshoot perfusion equipment and disposables.
  • Manage extracorporeal circulation, ECMO, and other perfusion modalities as required.
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Document perfusion procedures, equipment usage, and patient data accurately and thoroughly.
  • Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique, infection control, hospital safety protocols, and compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in preoperative and postoperative planning and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Perfusion Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Current Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) certification (ABCP or equivalent) or eligibility for licensure.
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical perfusion experience, preferably in cardiac surgery.
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and perfusion techniques, including CPB and ECMO.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new hospital environments and perform effectively under high-pressure surgical conditions.
