Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) team in Asheville, North Carolina. This role is ideal for nurses with at least two years of acute care experience who excel in fast-paced, patient-focused environments. The RN will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to adult patients requiring close monitoring between the ICU and general medical-surgical units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Stepdown/PCU, including those with complex cardiac, respiratory, and acute medical conditions.
  • Perform continuous patient assessments, monitor vital signs, telemetry, and other physiologic parameters, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, treatments, and interventions safely and accurately according to hospital protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, RNs, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on disease management, medications, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and quality standards, ensuring adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Adapt quickly to new hospital environments and workflows, demonstrating flexibility and professionalism in a travel assignment.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program (BSN preferred).
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or eligibility for compact state licensure.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of recent acute care experience, preferably in Stepdown/PCU, critical care, or medical-surgical units.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide patient-centered care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
