About the Role:
As a Women's Health RN at a DirectShifts facility in California, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to women before, during, and after childbirth. You will work collaboratively with obstetricians, midwives, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes for both mothers and newborns.
Responsibilities:
- Provide prenatal care, monitor fetal development, educate patients on a healthy pregnancy.
- Assist with labor and delivery, provide emotional support and pain management to laboring mothers.
- Care for newborns immediately after delivery, perform assessments, and assist with breastfeeding.
- Educate and support mothers on postpartum care, newborn care, and breastfeeding techniques.
- Monitor postpartum recovery and address any maternal or newborn concerns.
- Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for mothers and newborns in the maternity ward.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and obstetrical care protocols.
Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted California State RN License.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a women's health setting (obstetrics, maternity, gynecology preferred).
- Strong understanding of female reproductive health, pregnancy stages, and childbirth processes.
- BLS certification (Basic Life Support) is mandatory. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach with a focus on patient advocacy and emotional support.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
